Lünen "Licht_Blau"

Project Description
After 3 months of construction works the newly designed square was opened on November 20th 2014. The aim of the redesign was to convert the former water cascade in front of Lünen`s town hall into a light art work. The design consortium RW architects and urban designers and ST Freiraum, landscape architects was established in a procedure of calling expert opinion by the city of Lünen and the association of fine arts and culture in Lünen.

The slightly raised, plane surface of the square is made of resin bonded blue glass pellets. Underneath this composite surface in the style of the former water feature concentric rings of lighting profiles are placed.Dynamic lighting control evokes the impression of sprawling wave movements.

licht raum stadt has designed and supervised the scene setting of the square, including all services of lighting and electrical design as well as programming of the dynamic installation.
